Why Restaurant POS Like Posist Often Falls Short for Banquets.
Posist, now Restroworks, is built for restaurant chains. Kaliquid is built for halls, lawns and caterers. Here is where each fits, with a checklist for moving.

Restroworks (Posist) and Kaliquid, side by side
Restroworks is a serious platform for restaurant groups. This table shows where a banquet or caterer would notice the difference, with dates on every outside claim.
| Core Operational Requirement | Kaliquid Venue OS | Restroworks (formerly Posist) |
|---|---|---|
| Built for | Banquet halls, lawns and caterers running events | Restaurant chains and franchises: QSR, fine dining, cloud kitchens, hotels, food courts |
| Name | Kaliquid | Posist rebranded to Restroworks on 10 April 2024, per third-party reports |
| Scale claimed by the vendor | Not a chain product | 25,000+ restaurants worldwide (vendor figure, not audited) |
| Central kitchen and inventory | Quantities by station from a confirmed guest count | Central kitchen, production, recipe management and demand forecasting; strong for chains |
| Banquets and catering | The core workflow: slots, quotes, advances, per-plate menus | Listed as a supported format on its site; hall-by-hall slot booking is not described in the pages we read |
| Reports | Booking, payment and enquiry-pipeline views for a venue | 200+ reports and a cockpit app for multi-outlet groups |
| Integrations | Tally XML export and WhatsApp receipts | 500+ marketplace integrations including Swiggy, Razorpay and SAP; Tally not mentioned on the pages we read |
| GST | Food at 5% and hall or extras at 18% on one invoice | India GST support stated on its site; line-wise hall and food split not described |
| Price | Pro plan ₹999 a month per hall, ₹750 a month if billed yearly; Enterprise is custom-priced (published) | Quote-based by number of billing terminals; third-party estimates of ₹2,500 to ₹5,000+ per outlet per month |
| User reviews | No review score claimed here | A software marketplace listing read in September 2026 shows 4.8/5 from 94 reviews; complaints mention peak-time slowness and slower support |
Posist and Restroworks are trademarks of Restroworks. Vendor claims come from restroworks.com and third-party listings read in September 2026, and prices are third-party estimates rather than quotes. Kaliquid pricing is the published Pro plan for one hall; confirm terms with each vendor.
Where a hall needs more than outlet-level POS
These are the parts of a banquet business that a restaurant chain platform is not designed around.
Hall and slot calendar
Each hall has morning and evening slots with a pack-down gap, and a second booking for the same slot is refused.
Payment plan per event
A token, a mid payment and a final invoice sit under one client, with advance receipt vouchers adjusted at the end.
Kitchen sheet by station
A confirmed guest count turns into quantities for tandoor, halwai and Jain counters instead of a re-typed menu.
Enquiry pipeline
Each enquiry moves from first call to site visit to confirmed booking, so no lead sits unanswered.
When a chain platform is right, and when a hall needs something else
Posist is now Restroworks. The company rebranded on 10 April 2024, according to third-party reports read in September 2026, and the old name is still what many owners search. Restroworks describes itself as a platform for restaurant chains and franchises and says it serves more than 25,000 restaurants worldwide, a vendor figure we could not check. Its site lists POS, tablet ordering, central kitchen and production software, recipe management, kitchen displays, demand forecasting and more than 200 reports, and it names hotels, food courts, catering and banquets among the formats it supports. So the headline above is fair for a stand-alone hall or lawn and too strong for a hotel or chain that already runs Restroworks. What its public pages do not describe is hall-by-hall slot booking, a quote-to-advance-to-invoice flow for a wedding, or line-wise 5% and 18% GST on one bill.
Restroworks does not publish a price list. A software marketplace listing read in September 2026 says quotes are built from the number of billing terminals, and third-party guides put the cost at about ₹2,500 to ₹5,000 or more per outlet per month, with implementation fees extra. One such guide estimates ₹1.5 to ₹2.5 lakh a year for a five-outlet group. Treat these as estimates, not a quote. A stand-alone banquet with one location does not need outlet-level chain reporting and would pay for depth it rarely opens. Kaliquid's published Pro plan is ₹999 a month per hall, or ₹11,988 over a year (₹9,000 if billed yearly at ₹750 a month), with custom Enterprise pricing for chains.
Picture a 60-room hotel in Jaipur with a restaurant, a bar and a 500-seat banquet lawn. The restaurant and bar bill hundreds of checks a day. The lawn hosts eight to ten events a month in season, each with a quote, three payment stages and a kitchen plan for 300 to 700 guests. A POS is right for the checks. For the lawn the work is a calendar and a paper trail: the enquiry on Monday, the site visit on Wednesday, a ₹2,00,000 token on Friday, and the final invoice a week after the event. If your POS vendor can do that in the same system, keep it. If the banquet manager keeps a diary next to the POS, the banquet is the part to move.
Where Restroworks is stronger, plainly, is chain operations. A central kitchen can send to twelve outlets, menu changes can go to every outlet at once, and reports run across locations. A banquet hall does none of that. What it has instead is one kitchen producing 400 plates on a Saturday and 150 on a Sunday, where the useful output is a shopping quantity by station, such as rice, dal and paneer in kilograms, taken from the confirmed guest count. Restroworks' recipe and production tools may cover part of this. Ask them to run a 400-guest event through it in the demo and watch what comes out.
On reviews, a software marketplace listing read in September 2026 shows 4.8 out of 5 from 94 reviews, with praise for the interface, billing and reports, and occasional complaints about slowness at peak times and slower support. That is a good record for restaurant work. Peak-time slowness matters more than it sounds on a wedding Saturday, so ask any vendor how it behaves when thirty phones are open at once and what its support hours are on a Saturday evening.
If you decide to move the banquet side, expect the work to be data, not software. Export 24 months of bookings, customers, menu items and open advances, map each item to a tax rate, and run both systems for two weeks before you cut over. The checklist on this page lists 26 tasks in that order, with a status column and a summary sheet, and it works whether you are leaving Restroworks or any other POS.

Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions: posist alternative banquet catering
Everything you need to know about posist alternative banquet catering for Indian venue, banquet, and catering operations.
Yes. Third-party reports say Posist rebranded to Restroworks on 10 April 2024, and Restroworks' own site now describes the platform under the new name. Owners still search the old name, which is why this page uses both. If a vendor quotes you for either name, you are looking at the same restaurant technology company, so compare the current Restroworks feature list and quote rather than older Posist material.
