Zoho Creator is a capable low-code builder, so the real question is whether your hall wants to build a booking system or simply run one. See what a custom build involves, what it costs over three years, and download a scorecard to decide with numbers.

Custom Zoho Creator app versus ready-made venue software
Read the right-hand column as 'what you would have to build'. Every Zoho fact comes from Zoho's own pricing and help pages, checked in September 2026.
| Core Operational Requirement | Kaliquid Venue OS | Zoho Creator (custom-built app) |
|---|---|---|
| What you are getting | A finished banquet and catering product with halls, shifts, holds, quotes, GST billing and receipts already defined | A low-code platform: you or a developer design the forms, reports and logic, then script the rules in Deluge |
| Where it wins | Nothing to design. Days go on data entry (halls, rate cards, tax settings), not on a build phase | Freedom. It can model a workflow nobody sells, such as a trust that approves every booking |
| Trying it first | Ask for a demo on your own rate card and test it against your five must-haves | Zoho gives a 15-day free trial with no credit card and a Free edition for individuals and small teams (Zoho help pages, Sept 2026) |
| How you pay | Kaliquid Pro is ₹999 a month per hall, or ₹750 a month per hall (₹9,000 a year) on yearly billing. Enterprise is priced by quote. No per-booking commission | Per user per month on Standard, Professional and Enterprise plans. Reported US list prices: $8, $20 and $25 billed annually, or about ₹700, ₹1,760 and ₹2,200 at an assumed ₹88 per dollar. Zoho bills Indian accounts in INR; GST is extra |
| Limits to know | Set by the plan you are quoted. Ask | Standard: 1 app, 25,000 records per user, 250 API calls per user per day. Professional: unlimited apps, 100,000 records, 500 calls. Enterprise: 250,000 records, 1,000 calls (Zoho comparison page, Sept 2026) |
| Stopping two people booking one slot | Shift-level date locking is part of the product, including full-day against morning and evening. Test it in the demo | You design it. A check-then-save script can pass twice if two staff save in the same second, so build a unique key or lock and test it |
| GST invoices by SAC | Line-wise SAC rates: 5% on a hall and food package, 18% on hall rent alone and on extras, CGST+SGST or IGST by place of supply | No banquet tax module. You script the tax logic or connect Zoho Books, which does GST invoicing, e-invoicing and e-way bills in India |
| WhatsApp quotes, UPI QR, Tally export | WhatsApp PDF quotes, UPI QR collection and a Tally Prime export are product features | Each is an integration or script. We have not tested a Zoho-built version, so treat each as a line in the developer brief |
| Who fixes it when it breaks | The vendor ships fixes and updates within the subscription | Whoever built it. Ask for an hourly rate and a response time in writing before you start |
| Best for | A hall with the usual flow: two shifts, packages with food, instalment advances, GST invoices, a small sales team | A venue with an unusual workflow and access to a developer it trusts |

Decide with your numbers, not a sales page
The workbook is neutral on purpose. It works just as well if the answer turns out to be 'build it'.
Three-year cost model
Users, per-user price, exchange rate, developer quote, upkeep and the months you run the old way. Two totals side by side, with GST counted only if you cannot claim it.
Weighted scorecard
14 banquet requirements scored 0 to 3 and weighted 1 to 5. It counts your must-haves that scored 0 or 1, so a cheap option that cannot lock a shift is caught.
Double-booking test
The brief includes the two-phone, one-slot test, plus a full-day versus morning check, so a developer cannot sign off on a demo that only works with one user.
GST cases to test
Six invoice cases to run before go-live: package at 5%, hall rent alone at 18%, food alone at 5%, extras at 18%, CGST plus SGST, and IGST for an out-of-state client.
What a Zoho Creator banquet build really involves
Zoho Creator is a good product, and this page is not trying to talk you out of it. You define forms and reports, script the logic in Deluge, and publish to web and mobile. Zoho sells it per user across Standard, Professional and Enterprise, gives a 15-day trial, and offers a free edition for small teams. If your hall has a workflow nobody sells, say a temple trust where every booking needs three approvals, or a palace with heritage-slot rules, Creator may be the right tool and a ready-made product the wrong one. Everything below assumes an ordinary hall: morning and evening shifts, packages with food, advances in instalments, GST invoices, a manager and two sales staff.
About the headline. 'Ready in 60 seconds' means opening an account. No hall runs in 60 seconds: halls, rate cards, packages and tax settings still have to be entered, and a day or two goes on that. What a ready-made product removes is the design phase, meaning the decisions about what a booking is, how a hold expires and where GST gets worked out. With Creator you make those decisions first and then build them. The limits are not the problem. A hall with 400 bookings a year never gets near 25,000 records per user, and the 250 daily API calls per user only matter once you connect WhatsApp or accounting.
Now the money, using numbers you can check. At the reported US$20 per user per month for Professional and an assumed ₹88 to the dollar, four users cost 4 x 20 x 88 x 12 = ₹84,480 a year, or ₹2,53,440 over three years, before GST and before any developer. Two users on Standard at $8 come to ₹50,688 over three years. Add a build. We do not know your developer's rate, so the workbook asks for a written quote. With sample inputs of a ₹2,00,000 build, 15% yearly upkeep and three months of double-handling at ₹10,000 a month, the three-year total lands near ₹5.7 lakh. One hall on Kaliquid Pro at ₹999 a month costs ₹35,964 over the same 36 months, or ₹27,000 on yearly billing at ₹750. Change every input to your own quotes. Kaliquid is priced per hall and Zoho per user, so a group with many halls and few users can find the build cheaper: five halls on Pro cost ₹1,79,820 over three years, against ₹50,688 for two Standard users plus the build.
The hardest thing to build is the one that costs you a wedding: two people saving the same slot at the same moment. A common first attempt checks whether the slot is free and then saves. Two staff pressing save within the same second can both pass the check. It is fixable with a unique key on hall, date and shift, or a lock, but somebody has to think of it, build it and test it, including the rule that a full-day booking blocks both morning and evening. The workbook's test list says how: two phones, one slot, press save together, ten times, and exactly one may succeed. Run that same test on any ready-made product before you pay, ours included.
Billing is the second gap. Creator has no banquet GST module. You either script the tax lines (5% on a hall and food package at an ordinary venue, 18% on hall rent billed alone, 18% on decor and DJ, CGST plus SGST or IGST by place of supply) or connect it to Zoho Books, which handles GST invoicing, e-invoicing and e-way bills in India and starts at ₹749 a month on annual billing, with a free plan for micro businesses (Zoho Books pricing page, September 2026). That works, but it is a second product to configure and pay for. WhatsApp quotes, UPI QR collection and a Tally export are the same story: possible through integrations, each one a line in the developer brief.
What you give up with ready-made is freedom. Fields and workflows follow the product, and a request for something new joins a roadmap instead of a developer's to-do list. Ownership cuts both ways. A Creator app is yours in logic and data, but it is only as maintainable as the handover the developer leaves. Use the scorecard in the download: weight each requirement from 1 to 5, score each option only after you have seen it work, and look at the must-haves scored 0 or 1. Each one is either a build item to cost or a reason to walk away. If ready-made reaches about 75% of the best possible score with nothing critical below 2, buy. Otherwise get two developer quotes and compare the three-year totals.
